CryoEM Train-the-Trainer Program

SBGrid leads a CryoEM Train-the-Trainer program, funded through an NIH R25 award to Piotr Sliz (Harvard Medical School) and Jamaine Davis (Belmont University). This initiative equips faculty with the knowledge and resources to deliver hands-on cryoEM training at their home institutions.

All workshops are conducted in SBCloud, the AWS CryoEM cloud environment SBGrid developed, ensuring a uniform, ready-to-run platform for data processing and analysis. SBCloud removes technical barriers and allows participants to focus fully on scientific methods.

Since receiving the award, SBGrid has hosted 12 cryoEM workshops. Faculty participants came from 55 institutions across the United States. A new curriculum in cryo-electron tomography (cryoET) is now in preparation, with the first workshops scheduled to launch in late 2025.
