Overview

SBGrid provides comprehensive system administration support for all Linux systems for the Harrison and Chen labs at CLS.

All computers are located on an integrated network segment that integrates structural biology computers at HMS, BCH, and DFCI. To reach this network for access to local resources from an external location, please ssh to xtal200.harvard.edu.

Get Help

For general questions, email SBGrid at help@sbgrid.org and include your name and the name of your lab. Email questions about your software installation to bugs@sbgrid.org.

New members should contact help@sbgrid.org to complete their initial setup.

Computers

Linux computers are located in the graphics room on the third floor of CLSB. All Linux machines at CLSB are configured for Stereo 3D output. The labs also have access to two GPU workstations located at the Harrison Graphics room.

E-mail Access

Lab members have a Crystal Google Account with access to email and other Google services, including Google Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and more. If you do not have an account, email help@sbgrid.org and cc your PI or Lab Admin in the request.

Using webmail

There is an email associated with your Linux account at <username>@crystal.harvard.edu. You may access the webmail at:

You can set a vacation responder in the webmail client by clicking Personal Settings and then clicking the Vacation tab.

Crystal email is currently hosted through Google's GSuite

Configuring a Mail Client for IMAP

To configure your address in a client such as Apple's Mail Application or Thunderbird, Select mail type GMail

  • Your GSuite username@crystal.harvard.edu is different from your Linux account ##

Data Backups

Full and incremental backups are made of SBGrid file servers, including your Linux home. These backups are usually kept for three months. If you need a file restored, please contact us at help@sbgrid.org.

EM Data is not stored on SBGrid file servers. Please consult the Lab's Storage management policy for more information.

Printing

Email help@sbgrid.org to have your workstation configured for printing.

The following printers are available:

The two printers whose names starts with sche are for use by Harrison Lab members. The other printer is a general purpose printer.
